Fishing with the NQ Flyfishers

We had our annual freshwater weekend starting on Halloween! We had a healthy group of 9 members through the weekend. Some of the members stayed in cars or camping while others stayed in far nicer accommadation. We fished in pairs for the weekend and covered a far bit of water. What we did find with sooties that we knew but always needed reminding once the pool is fished there is no real point in fishing it again for awhile!

Raymond got in early and landed a couple of barra and tarpon before the rest arrived! By the time we had arrived it was just after midnight so only time to set up camp. Bob, Steve, Richard, Harvey and myself all stayed for a night or two, while Raymond, Danny, Helen and Terry fished for a while and returned home.

We fished the pools up stream and down of the the camp site. All fishers had follows and hits. Over the two days we landed approx 40 fish with the majority being sooty. Barra, tarpon, herring and gar were landed. We fished for a few hours in the morning on both Saturday and Sunday. we also fished on Saturday afternoon. The team mostly fished 6 to 8wt rods with floating through to sinking heads. The flys varied from clousers to decievers and a mixture in between mostly streamer patterns but the odd popper/gurgler as well. We had a great time.
